My birth philosophy
I believe that mothers are the sole authority when it comes to pregnancy, birth & motherhood.
I believe that mothers deserve to feel deeply respected and highly valued in their birth space.
I believe that women's bodies are perfectly designed by God to give birth and that birth unfolds best when it is physiologically supported.
I believe that when mothers deeply trust their intuition and confidently walk in full sovereignty over their pregnancy & birth, they emerge as empowered, autonomous and confident mothers.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I am a Christ-follower, wife, girl mom, sister + friend. I live in the Lehigh Valley with my high school sweetheart husband and our two daughters (and a baby on the way). With a background in trauma-informed social work, I’ve spent my career empowering women to reclaim their strength and voice. I’ve always had a deep desire to walk alongside others in authentic connection and community which I believe we were created for and leads to healing . Supporting mothers in this season of life perfectly ties together my skills and passions while supporting my family and allowing me to stay home with my girls. I am grateful.
My birth experiences with my daughters were transformational. My first birth was at a birth center and while it was a “successful” natural birth, I was left disappointed at how their arbitrary policies sabotaged the physiological process and created unnecessary problems during my labor and immediate postpartum. When I became pregnant again, I was determined to create a better experience and have sovereignty over my own birth. I dove headfirst into learning all I could about physiological birth and worked through fears and wounds to create a deep trust in my body’s innate wisdom. I gathered together an incredible birth team whose values aligned with mine. What I experienced was a beautiful, undisturbed, peaceful, redemptive, empowering home birth. It was amazing. It changed me. It lit a fire within me to support others in pursuit of their own empowering births which led me to pursue a doula certification through Birth Belongs to Women in 2023. Other certifications I have received are in Neonatal Resuscitation, CPR/BLS, Infant Craniolsacral Therapy (see below).
Loving photography + videography was a natural outcome of getting into birth work. Being around such beauty, important life events and unforgettable moments- I couldn't help but capture it. What started out as a casual interest quickly turned into a passion that seamlessly goes hand in hand with supporting women + their families.
Apart from being a doula and photographer, I work with an incredible local midwife team Malachite Midwifery as their midwife assistant, and have recently started my journey into midwifery by starting school with Matriz Weavers. Balancing family, homeschooling, being on call, and loving my community well, I’m pursuing my calling to midwifery slowly and intentionally. My goal is to become a home birth midwife, offering compassionate, highly skilled, evidence-based care and a steady, loving presence to families choosing home birth throughout the Lehigh Valley.
